About.com	A listing of websites by category where each category is maintained by a volunteer expert in that category.
AllTheWeb	A large, fast search engine.
AltaVista	A large search engine that allows pinpoint searches using complicated queries.
Ask	A newly redesigned version of the older AskJeeves and Teoma search engines it replaces. Ask has several interesting new features such as quick page previews and options to narrow your results.
Google	An immense search engine which has a reputation for returning relevant results.
HotBot	HotBot searches its own list of websites and can also show Google results and Ask Jeeves results as well.
Illinois Clicks!	Illinois CLICKS! Is an information website with quality Internet resources, reviewed and selected by Illinois librarians.
Librarian's Index to the Internet	An "annotated subject directory of more than 14,000 Internet resources selected and evaluated by librarians for their usefulness to users of public libraries."
Metacrawler	A search engine that searches many other search engines at once.
WWW Virtual Library	A medium-sized listing of websites by category. The oldest site of its kind founded by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventer of the HTML language on which websites are based.
Yahoo!	A search directory (listing of websites under categories) and engine that provides a variety of other services.
