Loan Information
Loan Period
3 weeks
2 weeks for new books
1 week for 7-day books and for some Lyric Opera and holiday sound recordings
To check out material a valid Illinois public library card is needed. If your card is not in our system, you will be required to produce your valid Illinois library card and a picture I.D. to checkout material.
Renewals
All material is renewable with the exception of 7-day books and some interlibrary loans and material on reserve.
Reserving Materials
Library materials may be reserved on request in several ways.
- The online catalog (iBistro) allows users to place reserves (holds) online.
- The reserve form will send an e-mail to the reference desk with your request.
- Call the Library directly: (847) 446-7220 for the Winnetka Public Library or (847) 446-5990 for the Northfield Branch.
- Come into the Library and the staff can assist you.
Special Vacation Loans
Library users may request an extended loan period of up to 6 weeks for vacations.
Book Drop
Book drops are available 24 hours a day at both the Main Library and the Northfield Branch to make returning material convenient.
Photocopy Machines
Three photocopy machines are available at the Winnetka Library and one is available at the Northfield Branch for public use. The cost of copies is 10 cents per page
Overdue Fines
There is an overdue fine of 20 cents per day for all materials.
There is a three day "grace period" following the due date. During the grace period materials can be returned with no fine. After the grace period has passed any fine is calculated from the due date, not the end of the grace period.
